I’m so happy that I finally made it one of Kathy’s workshops! It was a wonderful experience and I learned so many new ways of looking for inspiration and creating art. I’ve already implemented some of my learnings into projects at home in week following the workshop. I was inspired and that is exactly what I was hoping to gain! I will definitely be signing up for another workshop and or retreat.

I took my first workshop with Kathy this month and thoroughly enjoyed the creative space she provided, as well as the community of art explorers surrounding her. Kathy’s 3 day retreat was great! Kathy is a wonderful teacher with a non judgmental and supportive personality. I learned so many great techniques and came away feeling jazzed and inspired to set up a creative space for myself at home. As a side note, Kathy provided the most delicious, healthy food for lunch each day, which I really appreciated. Looking forward to the next one!

Kathy is an amazing art instructor. She has such a calm manner about her and is great at putting students at ease, especially those who have never done art before. Her interest is in the process of creating, not so much the finished product. She also plays great music, which contributes to the calm, creative vibe one feels in her class. If you are looking to find your inner artist, Kathy is the one to help you along. I can't recommend her enough!

Kathy's art classes are a delight! The setting, at her home studio in the hills of LA, is peaceful and beautiful and changes dramatically with the seasons. When I started her classes, I considered myself a non-artist who liked to dabble with collage. Her process of taking her students one step at a time through different techniques to create an artwork helps take the judgment and the fear out of creating, and I am always surprised and happy to see the result. And it's fascinating to see, at the end of each class, how the same process can lead to such different and amazing results for her individual students. I highly recommend Kathy's classes to both new and more experience artists and artist-wannabes!

I am taking a mixed media class with Kathy. She is amazing and encouraging; everything you could hope for in a teacher. Her studio is inspiring and I leave each session feeling full and stretched and creative.
It's a real treat! I am especially enjoying making art with Kathy during the pandemic. Art energizes me and Kathy's way of teaching really speaks to me. I know she is also offering small *safe* groups where we can work outside at her studio. My next move is to sign up for that!

This is Fabienne Rawley using husbands email (had tech issues with mine) - I attended Kathy’s 3 day art retreat last weekend, and it was a wonderful experience! Kathy is a very talented teacher, she gives clear simple instruction on various collage techniques and helps you SEE options with what you are making without telling you what to do. The result for me was that I was able to get into a non judgmental creative head space and have fun trying different ideas, making a mess and doing it all over again. The irony was that a piece i made and disliked on day 1 was transformed as if by magic into something I was really happy with on day 3 . I just listened to my instincts and surprised myself. I can’t wait to do it again! Thank you so much Kathy you’re art process is gentle but very powerful!
Plus the food was delicious, the walking tour of The Funk Zone in Santa Barbara was full of fun facts and the visit to the Santa Barbara Museum of Art was interesting and inspiring. Hoping to join you again soon 🙂
