The Cheech Marin Center for Chicano Art and Culture - located in Riverside, California was a lovely place to spend a couple of hours. This museum surprised my friends and myself who visited in late January 2025. The temporary exhibit of Yolanda Lopez was extraordinary. I'm not someone who is well-versed in art, nor am I normally moved when looking at paintings or drawings, but when I heard about The Cheech opening up near my hometown, a friend and I headed over to check it out.

I was in awe of everything that filled that museum. I've been to museums in LA, NYC, and Europe and none of them made stirred me as much as the artwork here. The materials used, the diverse range of styles, and the various topics covered in these art pieces created such a profoundly moving experience for me.

I really enjoyed looking at all the art pieces displayed here. My favorites were Josue Emmanuel Muñoz's piece on the right of the entrance and Yolanda López's pieces on the second floor. Though all the pieces were great. The pieces that had a QR code and/or had a Spanish part in the description added to the experience.

A very moving and powerful experience. I was trying hard to contain my tears while reading Yolanda López goodbye letter. It was great being able to step foot into a place where the work resonated with me. I will certainly be back. Much love from the Rio Grande Valley.

I found some beautiful 😍 oil paintings in this museum. When you first come in there is large an impressively large holographic photo that is a must see first hand. There is a statue of Mr Cheech Marin himself that you can pose next to for photos. Best of all it is Free of Charge making it an affordable outing for families. Plus, I even saw kids getting free art lessons in one one of the rooms! The Cheech Marin is located very close to a center that displays performance arts. I saw Mexican traditional dancing 💃, I even saw food being served like Tamales and champurradas as well as people dressed like the 3 wise men offering free candy in commeration of the "Three Kings Day." Plus, all the Cheech Marin staff from the door people to the security guards are all amicable making it an even more pleasant location to visit.

The Cheech Marin Center for Chicano Art & Culture, known as “The Cheech”, is a museum in Riverside, California. The center is focused on the exhibition and study of Chicano art from across the United States. They recently placed a sculpture of Cheech welcoming people to the front entrance. I had a terrific time exploring the museum as there is a lot to see, plus it’s right in downtown Riverside within walking distance of a ton of restaurants and other fun things to do! #thecheech #riverside #supportartists
