Great staff. Go above and beyond. Very cool and informative place. Could have stayed all day. Good for older kids and tweens. Lots of interactive kiosks. Great information on how our maritime systems work. Great information about E.O. WILSON and our eco systems. Plant and animals that inhabit Alabama. Very informative and educational. Very hands on and educational and FUN. elevator and lots of space. Children's play and rest area. Even have costumes so they can dress up. Staff willing to help. Very nice. Just a wonderful place. I love this place. Would go every day I could. Wonderful awesome place. Bathroom clean. All well kept. Bathroom is all done in nautical bath tiles. Adorable. We bought a two day multi pass battleship and this was included but both have a lot to see and we spent almost four hours at each and still didn't get to see it all. I love the multi pass saves some cash.

A great stop off I-10
in the port city of Mobile, Alabama is the GulfQuest National Maritime Museum
of the Gulf of Mexico.
This ship-shaped museum is filled with
both low and high tech interactive exhibits.
Kids and adults are sure to enjoy
learning about ship navigation, cargo shipping, and maritime travel. There are five decks of displays, interactives, and lookouts.
It offers a good mix of information, stories, and hands-on learning to explore
the world and history of ships.
We especially loved learning about
different signal flags, knot tying, and
simulated driving of different vessels. I
f you’re passing through Mobile,
this is a great stop!

The GulfQuest National Maritime Museum was WAY more than we expected! We went on their free Family Day. This museum had 5 levels. There is an elevator, stairs, or a ramp to use for those who various needs. Their hands-on exhibits keep our kids busy. There were short movies to watch as well. Highly recommended if you're in the Mobile (AL) area!

Easy to get to. Great parking. Ramps and elevators to reach the levels. Had a great variety of interactive stations. Sadly, several were not working. The ones that were working were a lot of fun. They have a great children's area. The docents were friendly and very knowledgeable. They have a volunteer docent, named Fred, who was a true pleasure to talk with. We actually stayed here all day and enjoyed our time.
Their Coast Guard art exhibit was well put together.

This is such a wonderful place to go. It has interactive activities for the kids. Beautiful views and the event I went to was very informative. I would love to see them bring something in on dinosaurs, sharks, or even the holocaust. There is a lot of space that could be utilized and make so much more fun.
Just call ahead and make sure there are no field trips attending that day. That is the only thing that makes it hard for individuals to enjoy. It is a wonderful opportunity for the kiddos from school, and they need to see it, but individuals may have a harder time getting to see anything when the schools are there.
