My parents used to bring us to the Smithville Inn when I was child. I was in the area and decided to eat there for the first time in 50 years. It was better than I remembered. The chicken pot pie is still the best I have ever had. The pot roast was also excellent. Nadia, our waitress, and the rest of the staff gave us top quality service.

I had the pleasure of attending a bridal shower at The Smithville Inn. The place is so very pretty. There are individual dining rooms and the place itself has so much character and vintage charm. The staff were more than accommodating and the food was delicious. Our buffet had penne ala vodka, chicken franchise, roast beef, roasted potatoes and string beans and salad. Dessert consisted of delicious brownies and yellow cake. Everything was served hot and it was set up so nicely. What a lovely place to have dinner or a special event…just lovely!

I’m surprised I’ve never walked into the Smithville Inn, considering all the years I've spent in the area. The restaurant exudes an elegant, old-world charm that perfectly complements the historic town. The dining room is open and spacious, creating a welcoming atmosphere.

Now, let’s talk about the food. While everything I tried was excellent, it’s clear that the star of the show is the chicken pot pie. As someone who isn’t typically a fan of pot pie, I can honestly say it’s the best I’ve ever had. I can’t wait to return for another taste!

The place is beautiful and peaceful enough but is NOT handicap accessible at all. I went to a wedding and stayed overnight. I use a walker and had to pick it up and go up stairs a lot. The food was delicious and nice atmosphere.

Our family thoroughly enjoyed our luncheon at the Smithville inn. My husband and I had the turkey platter, which was overflowing with sliced turkey, stuffing and mashed potatoes. Very delicious, my daughter had a chicken salad sandwich that she said was very good. We'll be back again.

Came for an early dinner at 4:30pm and we were able to get a spot without reservations after waiting 5 mins. The dining area was pretty empty but I guess they just needed to set up. Staff was friendly and our waiter was attentive.

The bread they serve at your table is delicious and warm. I ordered a cocktail and it was boozy and tasty. Made with fresh juice, not too sweet, and reasonably priced.

Our entrées came with a salad so we got Italian and balsamic dressing. Both salad dressings were heavy with vinegar and very sour. The lettuce didn't seem to be the freshest so definitely could do without a salad on a return visit.

For entrées we ordered the seafood boulliabaisse and braised short rib pasta. We didn't have to wait long for the food to come out and when the food did arrive, it's piping hot which is awesome. The seafood boulliabaisse broth tasted like the ocean with tomato sauce. The shrimp and mussels were fresh and cleaned well. The clams had a tiny bit of grit on them. The pasta was cooked just shy of al dente and a bit stiff. Still enjoyed the meal but not the best seafood pasta we had.

The braised short rib was cooked well. Had great flavor and texture. I think they should choose a different pasta because the panccheri is huge and doesn't work well with the big chunks of beef. It was however, cooked well and seasoned great. The portion sizes for both entrées were very generous.

Will be back to try their other entrées and cocktails whenever I'm back in the area.

Historic Smithville Inn has been a mainstay restaurant for friends & family since the 1960's. We've enjoyed many memorable occasions there from 1st date, engagement to wedding, special birthday milestones, office Holiday parties and more. The ambiance of Smithville Inn is wonderful for events in one's life. The service is always grand, from the bartender to the servers; many have been there for years. This says a lot about Smithville itself.
Returned for birthday lunch & the food was Ab-Fab: all had the Beef Rib with mushrooms & Pasta. Am I in Italy? Desserts: Decandent chocolate bombe' filled with dense mousse & chocolate shell. Oh la la. Apples in pastry with generous amount of ice cream with birthday candle. Most kind, thanks! Previous visit: Lamb Shank; tender and well seasoned; Classic Chicken Pot Pie, not much filling-lacked chicken & veggies. Salad was crisp but sparse on the plate. Subsequently, food can be uneven. Still Love Smithville Inn & always will.
Having brought friends throughout the holiday season, no one was impressed but we always return because Smithville Inn for locals in like a relative you can't say no to as they're so likable.
