I had the pleasure of staying at the US Grant Hotel, and it was a truly memorable experience! From the moment we walked in, the beautiful and historic lobby took our breath away—stunning decor that exudes elegance and charm.

The room was equally impressive, with one of the most comfortable beds I’ve ever slept in. The food at the hotel was also outstanding.

A special shout-out to Hayley at check-in, who was absolutely wonderful. She was warm, helpful, and made the start of our stay seamless and welcoming.

We did encounter a minor hiccup in the lounge, where the server initially didn’t allow us to pay a cake-cutting fee and asked us to move to the lobby. While it was frustrating at first, the issue was quickly resolved thanks to the professionalism of the front desk and restaurant manager. They ensured we could pay the fee and enjoy our celebration properly.

Overall, the US Grant Hotel is a fantastic place to stay. While there was a small bump during our visit, the staff’s responsiveness and the exceptional service we received elsewhere more than made up for it. Highly recommended for a luxurious and accommodating stay in San Diego!

This hotel left me out on the street at 2am with a $3000 prepaid deposit because I lost my wallet at the airport and couldn't show a physical credit card for incidentals (I had my full number available + touch pay). After "apologizing" they then tried to charge me for longer than I stayed, said they would refund it, and did not. Management ghosted me, I had to complain to Marriot directly and file a charge back through my credit card company. Room service woke me up with a call to confirm I wanted privacy when I had do not disturb on, and I saw a woman on a crutch placed in a room near the end of the hall away from the elevators. Save money and stay at any other nearby hotel, downtown was pleasant.

Checked in Thursday 2-13-2025, check in went smooth enough until we got to the room that wasn't made up yet from the last guest. Went back down to the desk and they moved us to a different room. Friday we went out for the day, came back and the room wasn't made up yet at 5 PM. Went out for dinner and the room was made up when we returned. Friday night was a sleepless night. Mechanical issue with the elevator that ran up and down all night shaking the walls and ceilings like a runaway train. Front desk was aware as there was plenty of complaints from other guests but they chose not to shut it down. Here I sit Saturday night with a room that again wasn't made up and nothing but the same lip service apologies from the front desk. This is definitely not the service expected from a 5 stat hotel with an average cost of 600 per night.

Our weekend getaway was here at the hotel, i chose this place for its historic luxury and their known elegant architecture and being downtown location was so convenient for sightseeing.
Front desk was so helpful and friendly, rooms were cute and clean.
We had a great time, with we did room service but there was so much food I booked marked for our trip this time.
Recommend this place for a nice weekend getaway.
At night if you happen to be driving around, the hotel lights up to be soooo beautiful, 360 view of rainbow 🌈

This stay fell far below the standard I’ve come to expect from this property. On my previous visits, I received a complimentary upgrade as part of my AMEX stay benefits, but this time, I was asked to pay $250 for the same upgrade. Additionally, I specifically requested my breakfast as a to-go order and picked up from the Grant Grill to avoid room service charges, yet these charges were still added to my bill. To make matters worse, my to-go breakfast didn’t include utensils or napkins, and they forgot the maple syrup for my pancakes.

When I spoke to the front desk about the charges, the staff insisted the charges were correct based on their policy. I didn’t want to argue further, so I just paid the fee—it wasn’t worth my time.

Another disappointing change is the use of communal shower gels and shampoos. While I appreciate the environmental effort, I find it unhygienic and concerning, as there's no way to ensure they haven’t been tampered with by previous guests.

This was my third stay here, and unfortunately, it was by far the worst. The exceptional service I experienced during my earlier visits is what brought me back, but given this experience, I’ll be exploring other 5-star options in the same price range moving forward.

Stayed there for 5 nights celebrating my mother’s birthday in November when there was a cold front. On the day of arrival we got assigned a room where the ac/ heat was out of order. I went to the front desk telling them it’s impossibly cold in the room at 55degrees F and requesting another room around 4:30 pm. I was told they don’t have any more rooms or a portable heater and offered me extra blankets. I had to request a manager and decline to stay in a freezing room to get anywhere. Eventually they found another room for us. Now this is a 5 star hotel and one of the things you want from that kind of accommodation is not to have to fight for a room in which you could be warm to your satisfaction on a cold night. Really disappointed with the front desk service in that regard. Our second room was beautiful with luxurious bedding. The lobby is beautiful and classy too.

Beautiful, iconic, and historic place. The service in every department is impeccable. Be sure to see the 100+ year old Italian crystal chandelier. The concierge Brooks is incredibly knowledgeable, as well as an Elvis lookalike. His 11 am Saturday tour is wonderful.
