If you want a museum that is the perfect blend of art, craft, culture, photography and history, this place is it. They excel at this combination of specialties, of viewpoints and perspectives, in ways one never thought one needed to be exposed to, yet then recognize that such exposure was long overdue. I was entertained, amazed, intrigued, captivated by both the beautiful and the horror of history, and the transformational potential of art. You will learn, you will ponder, you will chuckle……what a powerhouse of an experience, all contained in a fairly small museum that is perfectly laid out to allow your to flow from one gallery to the next.

We went on a group tour and enjoyed all the highlights of this wonderful representation of the Southwest History. We'll be going back to spend some time there as it is full of interesting stories and items. Lots of parking and easy to get around.

Hidden gem! visited with my mom + we didn't allow enough time to view everything. Will definitely be going back again soon. Nice mix of modern desert culture + cultural history. Local contemporary plein aire exhibit was an additional bonus. Very diverse... textiles, paintings, photography, sculpture, really a lot of ? fun

Gem of a little museum! Exquisite collection of native American textiles. A small collection of historical cartography of the southwestern US. Staff was generous with their time, friendly and knowledgeable. Had the whole museum to ourselves on a Friday morning. Plenty of places to sit and absorb the artwork.

They have a really amazing collection of textiles that illustrates the history of Navajo weaving. It's not the most extensive collection I've seen, but blankets fill the walls from top to bottom.

Amazing museum right in Tucson that should not be missed. Small but gorgeous collections of native weavings, famous photo works, old and new paintings, local artists, and rotating presentations of historical eras in America. Plus, insightful background is provided on all subjects. Well-informed staff. Gift shop, too. Give yourself at least a hour for this truly wonderful experience. Go!

Excellent collection of Navajo blankets & rugs from 1800-2000+. American paintings of Sonoran Desert by well-known masters. Some baskets, some Spanish-Catholic religious items, some cowboy gear, some Spanish Territorial furniture, some pop culture items related to Tucson, 2 viewing rooms with films about contemporary cultural issues, and a section of contemporary SW paintings. Most rooms are spacious and offer comfortable chairs. Lighting and accompanying written materials are good. Parking is ample. Gift shop is tiny. Senior citizens pay $8 admission.
