What a surprise museum with a little bit of everything. It's a museum inside of a 120-year-old schoolhouse. It's like a museum in a museum, inception museum. It wasn't on our plans but decided to stop by and check it out. And it's super cheap too, $5 for an adult and only $1 for my 12-year-old!! My favorite part is that you're right up in there with all the old antiques. They aren't behind layers of glass.

While on a Route 66 roadtrip we stumbled upon this adorable town on rawhide days! We had a wonderful time exploring the town and spent some time watching the parade (sad we didn’t get to experience the longhorn marching through town) and the festival.

Tucumcari Historical Museum is a fun must visit if you stay in the Tucumcari area. Those that work at this historical museum are all volunteers. The Tucumcari Historical Museum is an eclectic combination of items from the Tucumcari area and residents. Items range from holey socks (a bit of a joke) to unusual, undefined stones, and relics gifted by residents. There is a world of interesting items within this collection and for a small prices visitors are encouraged to see, learn, and touch much of the history from this wonderful community. I highly recommend taking a visit to this museum if you are afforded the time to do so, it is a great experience with wonderful people.

This place is a MUST visit if you want to see lots of old stuff from early 20th century. They have many examples of things that it wouldn't even occur to you were different so long ago. Great for kids or any adult interested in American history. I only wish I could have stayed a little longer because I got there near closing.

This is worth the stop and visit. We spent about an hour here and it was well worth the admission fee. There is so much history and eclectic items here. You could probably come here a couple times and find more things. I really appreciate that the volunteer showed us around and explained some things as well.

Minimal fee to enter - I would recommend this place to everyone (as a must see if you have time) and kids above age 6 should find it interesting as well - even more fun for them is the playground and train outside. Each room of the old 1903 historical building that was once a school (and has a ton of history all by itself) is covered from floor to ceiling with town memorabilia. There is so much to see but many times I didn’t know what I was looking at, exactly. If they offer tours of the rooms from an historian I would recommend it. On the outside they have an old playground, a real Pacific Railroad caboose which you can walk through (some pics attached) and other large historic items like a plane, wagons and an old fire truck. We loved this place!
