Incredible experience.
I was with my 5, 8 year old boys. Both of them loved it. We were there for 4 hours from 10AM to 14PM on a Sunday.
There were people there but it didn't feel crowded at all because the place is so huge.
There are so many rooms to explore, so many small details to inspect. The mazes of the rooms are amazing.
Kids can also get into the cockpit of a real fighter and a nice docent that actually flew the plane answers all of your questions.
The docents are so nice and tell so many interesting stories, you should speak with them to get the fool experience.
There is also a very interesting Japanese American soldier museum that is almost invisible, you need to climb a few stairs at the back of the hanger to get to it. The docent there had very interesting stories about the Japanes American soldiers in WW2.

We were not able to take the tours because my 5 year old wasn't tall enough (needs to be 48 inches) but I'm sure they would have been awesome, we will take them for sure once he grows up a bit.

We signed up for a VIP tour last Saturday and had the best time. Our guide Larry was awesome. He is a veteran of the ship and had served on two other sister ships. He took us all over the place. Our four hour tour ended up being about 5 1/2 but no one wanted to leave. What a great guide who LOVES his ship. Seventeen thumbs up. Super fun. $50 was not enough for the experience we got.

Lots of areas closed to the public without taking a private tour. Lost a star for that.

Otherwise, there is a beautiful selection of aircraft and an in-depth look into a WW2 aircraft Carrier that served in the war and has a decorated kill list. I do appreciate they have given duties and jobs to war veterans on the ship. That hit me in the feels and was heart warming meeting them!

Definitely a must see ! 4/5.

This is a warship from the WWII era. There was a Hackathon for building defence tech tools. We slept in the bunks which was a unique experience.If you are going to stay in the ship make sure you wear something thick clothes because it gets cold at night🥶 Overall, great experience you can also see in the pictures. There were so many interesting projects in this historical place.🫶

I had a great self guided visit to the USS Hornet. This is a wonderful museum. You can practically get lost in the passageways below decks. Interesting to learn that the Hornet recovered the crews from Apollo 11 and 12 missions. God bless those that served on the Hornet.

I walk by this museum all the time, and I finally decided to stop in. What a great decision! It was really great! Sometimes museums can be boring, but this was definitely NOT. I went on a self guided tour, which allows for you to wander around the ship from top to bottom. They have so much information in all the areas, and the docents are around to answer questions and help you if you get turned around. I especially liked seeing the sleeping quarters. The beds were so small!! Id definitely recommend, even if you're not a big museum person or a military person. You will still enjoy this!

This is one of the best museums I have ever been to. There are a number of tours you can go on; I did the tower and the engine room. The volunteers who conduct the tours and are scattered around the ship are exceptionally knowledgeable and super friendly. To get the most out of this museum, you should engage with them as they greatly enhance the experience.

Tours cost $10 per area and last at least an hour. If you don’t want to pay for a tour, there are still lots of volunteers around the ship who you can talk to, and they will explain a lot of interesting information.
