What a wonderful rescue sanctuary for birds and animals who can no longer return to the wild. Very lovely facility, they have a Wild West theme and hold some community events throughout the year. So many interesting stories of how the animals came to live here. They all have names and are happy to see you. We thoroughly enjoyed the paved walkway, we didn't get a chance to do the nature trail walk but will come back another time. We had a great time, it's just off the highway and easy to get to.

Visited the park on a beautiful fall day and it was wonderful! My wife and I spent several hours viewing all of the different animals. The Cat House is awesome because you can go right up to the mountain lions!

Well worth the visit, highly recommend making the trip from Albuquerque.

My twins, who are 2 years old, absolutely loved this place! We got here around 10:30 and there was nobody here we had it to ourselves! Upon arrival, you are greeting with a very warm welcome and given a map! They have a bird walk area in which my twins loved the birds and owls, then we strolled over to the deer the over look was neat, and we saw the raccoons in the trees we will definitely be back this is one of our favorite places to go!

Update- 2nd time visiting had a wonderful time loved seeing the new edition the bear 🐻 and by the javelinas the wonderful lady came out and she let me touch some of her furr I didn't know but she said that javelinas are more related to Hippopotamus than they are pigs 🙂 found it really interesting!

Visiting Wildlife West Nature Park was an unforgettable experience that left a lasting impression. This non-profit animal rescue is a sanctuary where every creature is evidently cherished and well cared for. One of the standout features was the fully paved trail system, ensuring accessibility for all visitors, including those in wheelchairs.

Each exhibit not only showcased a diverse array of animals—from majestic elk and deer to elusive jaguars and foxes, as well as fascinating bird species like owls and eagles—but also shared the touching stories of how each animal came to reside at the sanctuary. It was heartwarming to see the dedication of the staff, who clearly love and prioritize the well-being of these animals.

My visit was enriched by the opportunity to learn about each species and their unique backgrounds. Every corner of the park exuded a sense of care and respect for wildlife, making it clear that Wildlife West Nature Park is more than just a visit—it's an educational and emotional experience. I left wanting to spend more time among these remarkable creatures and look forward to returning. This place truly captured my heart.

Great little zoo! All the animals here are rescues that could not have survived in the wild. They appear to be well cared for. The zoo isn't very large, but if you want to do more than just look at each one for a couple minutes, and you want to spend time with these beautiful animals, plan on it taking a couple of hours to visit all of them. The employee in the gift shop told me the best time of day to go is around 10am, most the animals will be active and being fed at this time. I definitely will be back!

My daughter and I were leaving Albuquerque on our way home back to Lubbock, TX and we saw a sign that said Wildlife West Nature Park and Zoo and so I asked her you wanna check it out and she said yes. It was the best decision because this is one of the most unique, authentic and most beautiful Zoos we have ever seen. The animals there were soooo friendly and the beautiful mountain view’s could not be beat. There are sooo many cool trails that just let you enjoy the beautiful New Mexico views. The kid part at the very beginning was so cool my 5 yr old loved it. The old school train and bus you see are part of the unique feel. The elder gentleman at the entrance was very nice and explained everything about the zoo along with a map. We will definitely be going back in the future. It is one of the most hidden gems in all of New Mexico for sure.
