Such an amazing experience! My teenage son had a blast and was hooked after the first few minutes. With the lack of shop classes in school, this is a great way for him to build a skill set. The owner and staff were incredible, friendly, knowledgeable and safety oriented.

I was looking for something I could do with my 13 year old grandson and our daughter came upon the Woodworker’s retreat. We spent about 3 hours today and both made a charcuterie board. The equipment is first rate. The staff is very nice and really helpful. It was a great time for us together and we came away with something useful to be proud of.

My husband and I took the table saw class with Victoria and had a blast! She was thorough, friendly, explained everything in simple terms, and put up with all of our questions. The workshop is spacious, well-organized, very clean, and has everything you could ever need. Also as a woman, I felt comfortable from minute one. I'm looking forward to not only taking more classes here, but becoming a member and making use of their amazing space and machines. Highly recommend for anyone wanting to get into wood working!

I used to dream about someone opening a “shop class” anyone could take part in, and they did it! My daughter and I had a really fun night making a bowl on the lathe, 3 hour evening class. The place is new, state of the art, the people are super friendly, helpful. We’re going back! 5 star experience!!

I found this place through Conejo Deals. Anna and Lex were amazing. They walked me through all the steps to making my Charcuterie Board. They were patient and helpful. I am definitely going back to make some frames and try my hand at some bowls. The purple heart wood is my absolute favorite. This place is for the pros and the novices. State of the art equipment, organized and clean. My next step is taking a class. I highly recommend.

A big “Thank You” to the management and staff of Woodworkers Retreat in Newbury Park. My wife and I were recently part of a planning committee to plan a “mystery” event for a group of 29 very active senior citizens. The individual members of the group paid in advance for a night of fun and entertainment but had no idea what the activities would be.

We stumbled upon Woodworkers Retreat, and our planning problems were soon solved. We met with the business owner John VanderHooven and his General Manager Anna. We told them about the group and our budget for the evening, and they quickly came up with an activity that met our needs. The group participants would be offered two projects: The men would make a wooden cell phone sound amplifier, and the women would make a wooden dual-sided swivel picture frame.

Anna was in complete control of the group right from the beginning, as she explained the projects, expertly answered questions, handled any issues that arose, and guided the activities so everyone finished their projects within the allotted time schedule. Woodworkers Retreat staff and even the owner, John VanderHooven, were there to provide hands-on support and help each participant complete the various tasks.

The participants had a great time. There were smiling faces throughout the evening, and the many comments we received even after we left the facility told us that we had made the right decision to stage the event at Woodworkers Retreat. The members couldn’t get over the professionalism and the patience shown by both management and staff. It was truly a magical night for our group.

Had the most amazing time today building a completely custom butcher block cutting board. It was clean, safe and really fun! Went with my husband for an amazing day date, and cannot wait to come again and learn and build more! Staff is super knowledgeable and kind and made everything very fun, I am completely new to woodworking and I had the best time!

I've been trying to figure out how to fit a table saw and some other equipment into my crammed garage, but when I found this place it solved the problem! For the cost of a gym membership I can use their 3 large table saws, their jointer and planers, their belt sanders, drill presses, router tables, lathes... It's incredible! I made a maple workbench and it came out pretty good. Knowledgeable and friendly staff gave me advice or a hand whenever I needed it.
