I just finished this course and obtained my CCDT credentials! I really enjoyed this course and loved how I can work at my own pace around my busy life. If you are thinking about choosing this course I highly recommend the Master’s program. Having continued support from the Catch Program Directors, AND a local Catch graduate mentor that you can observe in person makes a big difference. Overall a great program for future dog trainers of any level.

Great curriculum, great experience.
I took the Basics Pro program.
If you’re looking to get into dog training using Positive Reinforcement methods, CATCH’s Basics Pro offers a rock-solid foundation in basic obedience, etc. but also goes deeper into behavioral consultation concepts as well as help to gain a clearer understanding as to how dogs think and communicate with us and each other. It covers so much!

The mentor addition is worth considering. It was a great experience for me that provided goals, valuable feedback, boosted my confidence and offered networking opportunities. If there was a way to work with the mentor a bit more or earlier in the course for those of us that are kinesthetic learners, that would be a big plus.
The course is a good amount of reading which I don’t mind, as I read a lot anyway and I realize this is correspondence learning after all, but more hands on time with dogs would have been a nice way to change it up as I went along. So be sure you’re ok with distance learning and all the better if you have access to dogs to work with. Also, for anybody wondering, it’s possible to do this even without having your own dog. I did. But you will need to find a student dog to work with.

My program director was Julie and she always had great solutions, answers and ideas to try out when I had questions. My student dog happened to start going into his “fear stage” as we started training which was a challenge but Julie was able to get me through it quickly and with no problems.

There are plenty of schools as well as schools of thought on dog training out there. I’m glad I went with CATCH.
And I will certainly consider taking future courses with them.
Can’t wait to see where all this new knowledge and experience takes me.

I had an amazing experience with CATCH! From the moment I first inquired about their programs, all the way up until graduation. Their school programs are very well organized and easily accessible, I really enjoyed all the extra info they provided as an option too. I had Justine as my mentor and I could not ask for a better human to answer my insane amount of questions, dive deep into behavior modification, and have a really personable relationship (even through a phone!) They have an amazing community here, extremely supportive, informative and kind.

I had a great experience with Catch Canine Trainers Academy. The videos were very helpful and instructive. The books in the curriculum were interesting to read and also very helpful. The mentor program was great to see an experienced dog trainer in action and to be able to ask questions. The mentor program is also helpful as a review, since it took me some time to get through the program (10 months I think) while also working at my job. The program directors check in on a regular basis to see how you are coming with your studies, so you never feel alone, even though it is an online academy. I highly recommend Catch if you are interested in learning how to train dogs, read their body language, etc.

I recently completed the master class at CATCH Academy and I can't speak highly enough about the course content and my program director Hannah. The master class is a deep dive into all things dog, including body language and behavioral issues that are common with dogs, reactivity, separation anxiety and resource guarding to name a few. I had a lot of additional questions regarding dog behaviors and Hannah is not only extremely knowledgeable but willing to spend the time talking through ideas and theories.

Hannah became my cheerleader when I was struggling with chronic fatigue and I wasn't sure I could finish the course, setting up bi- monthly phone calls to check on my progression. I am now thrilled to graduate and I feel like I'm prepared to start my career, especially as CATCH is happy to support past students with any arising questions.

Highly recommend this program for anyone that is serious about learning the business of dog training.

I considered several options before selecting to enroll in this program and it has been an absolute positive experience. The materials are very well thought out and presented in a manner that allows you to proceed at your own pace.

I chose to also use a mentor and have been matched up with a local dog trainer that has also been an invaluable resource.

Feedback and communication with the staff at CATCH has been constant and they have proven that they are not just another certification-mill that is after your money.

CATCH has prepared me to be a part of a whole new world, the DOG world! And let me tell you, I am loving every minute of it! I have helped so many people already with their dogs who needed just a little more structure in their household. (I graduated 6 weeks ago and have started working with more than 6 different dogs. All of which are achieving their own personal goals.) I am even helping with a service dog. This dog is about to graduate & we will pass the leash over to her forever home. I was her teacher foster this year. What a treat to help with a dog that is going to make someone’s life so much better. I am working with another trainer to learn more about training service dogs.
