A great museum with terrific displays and a decent gift shop. Kudos to the all volunteer staff that have put together such an amazing collection to tell the history of the area.

This museum is amazing and 100% worth visiting once. The curators have created a uniquely groveland experience, with histories of various families who were important to its history, and dioramas of gold mining and logging which were key to the community’s creation. There’s also taxidermies of local fauna, including a large bear, and other furs that kids will love to pet. My personal favorite portion was a collection of newspaper clippings from various eras, some relating to Northern California, and some not so much!

It seemed I was the only visitor the day that I came by, so please go check it out and support the history if you have a few minutes!

This is a gem of a museum. It has very detailed displays that really capture the feeling of the Old West and the gold mining era. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable too. The real, touchable animal furs are a hit with the kids too. For a museum that occupies just one medium sized room, it has the content of one several times its size. One could easily spend a couple hours here reading all the materials (and the old newspapers are fascinating too). It is something I look forward to each time I pass through Groveland.

Nice front desk lady, good selection of reading materials, warm and welcoming place, informative displays. There are names on rocks and minerals outside which refresh my memories because I forgot everything learned in my geology 101 class.

Very nice small museum focusing on history of the area plus nature from the past and present. They make mention of the Grizzly bear being in the area in the past, and on the state flag, but no longer exist here. Also some very neat small scale models of what some of the mines and log camps looked like. Models like that always captured my imagination when I was a kid. There are also plenty of books and souvenirs for sale.
