Great exhibits! Fun place to bring kids as they have a few models that you can interact with. My 2 year old loved the 727 cockpit!

Totally worth your time. They have tons of stuff for anyone interested in aircraft to enjoy. The aircraft are amazing to see up close and they have info cards for most of the display pieces. Totally recommend if you are at all interested in aircraft.

In 1978, the San Diego Air & Space Museum was destroyed in a fire. That is when the Annex at Gillespie Field became a restoration, replica reproduction, and storage facility for the new San Diego Air & Space Museum that now stands in Balboa Park. Today, the San Diego Aerospace Museum at Gillespie Field in El Cajon, CA displays a small collection of Cold War era jets and other aircraft. They have the cutest little play airplanes for kids to pedal around on! I think our son tried out almost every single one. We also stood at the runway for about 20 minutes just watching planes take off and land. It was very entertaining and the jets are so loud.

?335 Kenney St, El Cajon, CA 92020. The Annex is located on the north side of Gillespie Field.
?Free parking in lot
?12 years and older is $5, 11 years and younger is FREE
⏰ Opened Tuesday through Saturday from 9:00AM-4:30PM
?Some picnic tables by the runway but they are in the direct sun with no shade
?Wheelchair accessible
☀️I highly recommend going as early as you can because there isn’t any shade outdoors and it gets hot quickly.
?Don’t forget your sunglasses, hats, and sunscreen!

This is a great place to take your kids if they're interested in Aerospace stuff and airplanes. It is completely free, but you can leave a donation. The selection of aircraft is small, but they are of quality. They have lots of cockpits that one can sit in, and little airplane pedal vehicles that the kids can ride around in. All in all, it's a nice place to spend a couple of hours.

Small annex hangars used as a restoration site. Small selection of aircraft and helicopters. Went to see the F14 Tomcat that was used in TopnGun Maverick. Staff were friendly and informative. Only $5 entry fee, it's worth a visit.

Found San Diego Areospace Museum on my way to Montgomery Field. I wanted to finally see that field in person.
On April 1st 1993
Dave Rickards, a deejay at KGB-FM in San Diego, announced that the space shuttle Discovery had been diverted from Edwards Air Force Base and would land instead at Montgomery Field in a few hours (at 8:30 am).

There was a large turn out of people.
No space shuttles were even up at the time.
I don't think anyone will ever top that April first prank.

Here are some of my pictures from the
San Diego Areospace Museum. I really liked walking around looking at everything here.

There are small planes kids can ride on..
This was a great location find. I will be back here again soon.
