Hello all, I stopped by yesterday to ask for information on how to enter the food pantry, at first I was greeted by a old kindly lady and asked me if I wanted snack bag and I said yes, while she was preparing my bag another brunette lady walked to the door and said no you can’t have a snack bag they are for the homeless, I was shocked that they would deny food to a citizen just asking for help. I cried for a bit thinking wow how cruel of them to deny me a snack bag, that’s why people don’t like to go to these places because it feels as we are begging and/or taking food away from their home. There goes my faith…

Food given is fairly fresh and still edible. Frozen meat is given...chicken, sausage, etc. Staff is friendly. Sometimes a wait of 1/2 hour or so. Very much appreciate all the effort and time given to get the food and distribute. I do agree, however, with the reviewer who was irked that only folks with a current domicile in certain zip codes are served.

St. Vincent de Paul Food Pantries ostensibly "serve all local residents in need." HOWEVER, you can not be so direly in need that you do not have a residence in which to reside as a local resident.

In other words, no matter how exigent circumstances may be, if you are HOMELESS and HUNGRY in St. Vincent de Paul's Food Pantry community, you are NOT WELCOME at this food bank.

You will be turned away coldly, cruelly, and rudely empty-handed despite a brag'worthy surplus. I will be empty-bellied awaiting SNAP.

I, legitimately reside in the Spring Valley zip code. I landed here as the truly unhoused when my car irreparably died. 91977 is where it was towed and sold for salvage. I was condemned to the walking street-homeless class. I do not have a nest that generates utility bills, nor receipts, in my name or otherwise. I can not afford a P.O. Box aside from the one Health & Human Services offers but that zip code is not where I reside. I certainly can not afford to have my driver's license reissued everytime this instability, caused by DV flight, forces me to relocate within the county. I would be up to 6 new licenses in the past 2 years.

This is a great place to go if you are in need of food and toiletries. The staff are super friendly and possess Godlike character. A friend of mine recommended this place to me about 3 or 4 years ago when we were low on food and money and I was complaining about the inequality of a few of the other food banks that I had gone to. Some of those food banks would give as give 5 to 10 times as much food that was in better quality to people of their kind while only giving people of my kind enough food to feed 1 or 2 people or food that is already rotten or rots within a day or 2. It didn't matter how many people we had in our family. Sometimes it left me hating that I was Black and other times it left me hating people of other nationalities. I had to constantly pray to God for forgiveness for myself and all those people on the giving end and the receiving end. With all that being said I thank God for Santa Sophia Conference @ St. Vincent de Paul- Food Distribution Center.
