Valley Art Workshop is an enjoyable and companionable gathering of artists working in variety of mediums and with various levels of expertise. My main experience is painting from live models every Monday morning. We enjoy the variety of professional models who bring their own costumes and accouterments for 3-hour sessions. Here a few of the models and some of my pastel pieces.

I was looking for an art school, not confined to a classroom structure of required assignments and graded projects. I found it at Valley Art Workshop.As its name states – it is an art workshop. It is an open nonjudgmental, relaxed positive atmosphere where every student is free to pursue and focus on their individual area of interest. The studio is in a ballroom size room with high ceilings, natural light, ceiling to floor windows and views of trees on its vast property.
Don’t worry if you are shy – there is no need nor are you asked to speak or show your work to others. It is a place where you can concentrate on your art in your own way, your own personal bubble or space.
What sets this school apart is the owner/instructor Miles Lewis. He is an exceptional teacher with years of experience as an artist and teacher of all ages and skill levels. His passion and enthusiasm for his craft is evident, as he is genuinely interested in each and every one of his students in helping them achieve their goals. He is proficient in art techniques, art history, and all art mediums, which he generously shares in class.

I’ve had the pleasure of posing at Miles’ valley art workshop as a fine art model many times since relocating to Los Angeles. He is a gracious host and has always made me feel comfortable and welcome as a collaborator in his gorgeous and intimate  space, that always exudes creative energy.

I’ve gotten to know several artists and attendees, and their work is reflective of the creative community he’s built over the years.

As someone on the opposite side of the easel, I have the opportunity to witness him as teacher and facilitator from a very unique perspective, and it’s nothing short of magical. I feel honored to be a part of  this  community and as always, am looking forward to next time.

A really unique art school, workshop hosting, experience. There is nothing like it speaking from my 25 years treading the boards in the greater Los Angeles area. Hosted and owned by a truly creative family of the arts. Life drawing/painting classes run throughout the year. Always a warm, creative experience, in a beautiful not-to-be-missed historic house/estate setting.

Valley Art Workshop is a very special and enchanting place to come to learn about art. Miles Lewis is not only a gifted artist, he is also a brilliant instructor who has helped my visions come to fruition. After one year of hard work I learned new techniques, have been challenged and discovered how to enhance channeling my imagination. Miles has an engaging teaching style where his knowledge, communication, and overall uplifting environment come together to give us an inspiring space in his workshops. Valley Art Workshop has one of the best studio environment for life drawing. I like for format from quick study to a long pose provides extra drawing time. If you need lessons Miles is a great instructor and there a lot of talent that practices there. They provide good music and treats. My 10 year old grand daughter is learning to art at Valley Art Workshop.
